Gazing Across a Field On New Year's Eve
Two large men walk on either side of a third. It's hard to see, in the fading light of day which way they are even going; their shadows stretch out so long that it almost doesn't even look like they're moving at all. Perhaps they are leading him along, or maybe following instead. It looks like they may be dragging him towards help or someplace else he doesn't seem to want to go. A flock of birds takes to the sky as one before immediately dispersing. They flutter about in unorganized chaos before coming back together, moving off in one cohesive shape only to break apart once more and start the process all over again. The sun seems hesitant to dip below the horizon, as if it's not quite ready to let go, or doesn't want to face what comes next - which are two entirely different things, it's sometimes easy to forget. Maybe she wants to hold onto the moment, or perhaps she's just waiting as patiently as she can for the rest of us to do whatever it is we need to do. -cs
